EXECUTIVE
DIRECTOR POSITION
An
active forty-year-old non-profit historic preservation organization
seeks a strong leader and manager. The organization operates an
Endangered Historic Properties Program, advocates for, defends,
protects and promotes the extensive historic architectural resources
of one of America’s most desirable small cities.
The
successful candidate will have an unwavering preservation ethic,
and background, interest, experience and ability that enables
them to perform a wide range of demanding tasks, including fund
raising, public advocacy, historic property management, organizational
and events management and successful grant writing.
The
Executive Director works with a small permanent staff, an active
and dedicated board, several committees and volunteers, neighborhood
groups, other affinity organizations, and the municipality’s
managers and a broad public preservation program. The person chosen
must be able to work well with individuals and groups.
The
Executive Director must be a self-starter who is well organized,
sales oriented, creative, able to work alone at times, possesses
excellent communication skills: written and verbal, has well-developed
skills and full knowledge of all Microsoft office products and
Internet social networking tools.
The
successful candidate is expected to relocate to Salisbury and
become an active member of the community. We expect that person
to select a home in a Historic District.
Minimum requirements
include substantial experience in historic preservation or a related
field, a Bachelor’s Degree or above is preferred.
